Now that Spring is around the corner here in Alexandria, VA its time to change our skincare routine. During the winter months when the humidity is in the 30 to 40% range our skin needs extra moisture. That includes a cream based cleanser and hydration that is oil based to replenish the lost moisture wind, indoor heat and cold air bring.
The Mid-Atlantic spring/summer seasons are a stark contrast to the winters. Humidity ranges from 80 to 90% with temperatures in the 90’s and 100’s. This heat and high humid conditions leave the skin prone to breakouts and excess perspiration coupled with increase in sebum production. This requires water based moisturizers and gel cleansers to address and regulate the sebum production. Too heavy weight of any product will create a barrier that is a perfect environment for congestion (break outs) and inflammation.
My recommendation for the upcoming season for your home care is: gel cleanser, antioxidant serum, chemical or physical exfoliant, water based moisturizer and broad spectrum SPF 30+.
Spring facials at organic facialist are a compressive protocol for all skin types. I recommend once every 6 weeks to reset your skin with a professional service that addresses all skin issues with active ingredients that are at a higher concentration than retail products. For example, the Osmosis Polish (professional) is 30% active exfoliant vs the retail at 4%. At organic facialist we use a combination of modalities to achieve an amazing glow, clarity and tone that no other facial can give you. Yes, we are that good!
So, now that the heat and humidity is approaching make an appointment for a complimentary consultation with me, the owner, Linda. Skin is my life. Making women feel and look beautiful is my passion!
